Texas Birds (Part 1)

Hello everyone! This past week my family and I traveled to Texas to visit my grandparents. I was super excited for the trip, hoping to see many cool birds (which I did). Here are my photos from my grandparents neighborhood.

There are many ducks at a lake nearby and they all came up to us, hoping for food.

Northern Mockingbirds are the state birds of Texas, and they were EVERYWHERE.

I also saw lots of Egrets. This Great Egret was on the side of the road.

Waterfront Birds #2

Hello! Last week my dad and I went to the waterfront looking for birds. I saw many cool birds, but not as many ducks as I had hoped.

There were three different families of geese on the Hood River. So many goslings!

I also saw many squirrels. I thought they were cute so I put them in here.

This jay kept perching near me, allowing me to get some cool photos of him.

My dad spotted this Bald Eagle and while I was editing the photos i realized he has a fish in his talons!

I saw a couple Killdeers and even a Spotted Sandpiper (which I had never seen before). I didnt get a good picture of the sandpiper though.
I hope you enjoyed these photos! Happy May.

April Hummingbirds

I recently filled our hummingbird feeder and I've been taking lots of pictures of these fascinating birds. I love watching them.
 This is an Anna's Hummingbird.

I absolutely love seeing male Rufous Hummingbirds. They are bright orange. This one i named Cheeto. Did you know hummingbirds flap their wings 50-200 times a second? Because they move so much, they have to eat twice their body weight in calories every day.

I hope you enjoyed these photos! Bye!

Waterfront Birds

Hello! Today my mom and I walked the waterfront and saw some cool birds. Here are some of the photos I got:

The first bird we saw was this American Coot. You can't see it in this photo, but American Coots have weird feet.

This wren was singing a beautiful song.

We saw lots of Common Mergansers.

 This is the male ↑
And this one above is the female!
It was so cool seeing this Pied-billed Grebe catch this fish. It took him a few tries before he could swallow it!

March Birds

Hello! Today my family and I went to Catherine Creek trail head for a quick hike. There were so many of these Lewis's Woodpeckers flying from tree to tree. They land on a tree, then take off and fly in a circle (catching bugs) then land back on the tree. It's fun to watch.

A hummingbird in our front yard.
There are so many robins around our house right now.

Happy Spring and bye for now! :)

Feeder Birds

Hello! It is so nice out today! You might even think it's spring until you walk outside and it's FREEZING! This morning i went into our garden to take some more bird photos. I had just filled the feeders yesterday, and there were so many birds. I even saw a male Anna's Hummingbird and a Red-Breasted Sapsucker, but i wasn't able to get any pictures of them.
I tried to get some really close up shots of these birds.

I love the bold orange on Spotted Towhees.

I also saw a Northern Flicker poking through the grass.

Haha i had some fun editing this one! I thought it would be fun to add LOTS of saturation.
I hope you enjoyed these photos!

Snowy Birds

Hello! This week it snowed! I went around our yard taking some pictures of birds in the snow.

While i was trying to photograph a woodpecker, a little Anna's Hummingbird flew up and perched on a branch right next to me. I always thought that hummingbirds migrated in the winter, but they actually stay around all year.

The Varied Thrushes are back! In the winter these birds hang out in backyards and i love seeing them every year.

I was super happy to see this Downy Woodpecker, but it was behind lots of branches and i didn't get any great photos.
Well, happy snow days! I hope you enjoyed this blog.❄❄❆😊

Mountain Bluebirds & Raptors

This weekend we went to Sunriver! It was a super fun weekend and I saw some cool birds!      On our way home we stopped by the paint...
